Orange Surgery Centre (OSC) and Nexus Hospitals are pleased to announce that they have entered into heads of agreement for a joint venture for the new Orange Private Hospital (OPH), within the Bloomfield Medical Tower (BMC) at 1521 Forest Road, Bloomfield, Orange. The joint venture is subject to final due diligence and signing of definitive agreements.
The agreement brings together the experienced local provider with the expertise and resources of a leading national hospital operator. OSC has delivered high quality care to the Central West community for over 17 years from its McNamara Street Day Surgery. It was initially set up by local surgeons and has remained locally owned.
Nexus Hospitals (Nexus) is a national company with 15 high quality surgical facilities across Australia. Nexus’ experience, capability and future prospects were recognised late in 2019, when Queensland Investment Corporation purchased a majority interest in the company.
Dr Bill Mackie of OSC said: “We are very happy to be working with Nexus. They have a refreshing and innovative approach to delivery of care which is epitomised in their principle of being “Your local world class hospital”. Their strategy sits well with our ambition to continue to develop Orange as the leading regional healthcare hub in NSW.”
“OPH has leased 2 levels of the BMC Tower. On level 4 we have designed 7 individualised operating theatres to cater for different specialties and deliver optimal patient outcomes. Initially we will be providing 22 single inpatient rooms on level 3 for patients requiring admission for inpatient care. These include 6 high dependency rooms and up to 8 paediatric rooms.”
“Our existing nursing and support staff will form the core of a workforce that will be expanding with the growth of services offered by the new hospital. We will continue to work with all the specialists in Orange so we can meet the demands of their practices by providing a first class modern hospital, that is designed and built around new models of care with the technology and environment for the surgeons and staff to deliver the best possible outcomes for the patients.”
CEO of Nexus Hospitals, Andrew Petering, said: “Nexus is dedicated to providing world class care for patients in our specialised, boutique surgical hospitals. We pride ourselves not only on excellent clinical outcomes, but also a focus on providing patients with an exceptional experience of care. We believe the new Orange Private Hospital represents an ideal opportunity for delivering these outcomes for patients in regional NSW. We look forward to working with OSC and local surgeons to establish a high quality private hospital in the magnificent BMC Tower.”
The Bloomfield Medical Centre is based on the highly successful Gardens Medical Centre in Albury which was built by and is still owned by the Zauner Group. Insight Private Hospital in the Gardens Medical Centre is owned and operated by Nexus Hospitals.
The James Richmark-Zauner Joint Venture has also commenced construction of the 82 bed Medi Hotel located next to BMC which will provide much needed accommodation solutions for patients and carers travelling from outside Orange.
