Nexus partners with Bundaberg Private Day Hospital

The Bundaberg Private Day Hospital team

Nexus is delighted to announce that we have entered into a partnership with Bundaberg Private Day Hospital. Since opening in April 2019, Bundaberg Private Day Hospital has established a reputation for excellence in day surgery and serving the local community. Nexus is excited to have the opportunity to support the continued growth of the hospital and serve the local community’s needs.

The hospital was commissioned by Bundaberg locals Dr Jai Panchapakesan and Kate Panchapakesan. Jai has been serving the local community as an ophthalmologist since 2004. Whilst Kate, as the hospital CEO, has been instrumental to the success of the facility since inception.

The hospital has two theatres, sessional consulting rooms for doctors, and is a modern, high-quality site conveniently located in the new commercial precinct near Bundaberg airport. The experienced nursing and administration team provide an outstanding experience for patients and doctors across ophthalmology, gastroenterology, plastic and other specialities

Both Jai and Kate will remain in their existing roles and retain a shareholding in the hospital. Commenting on the partnership, Kate stated “We are proud of our hospital and believe that our connection to the local community is an important part of its success. We see our partnership with Nexus as an opportunity to further develop the services the hospital provides, ensuring the best Australian healthcare has to offer can be brough to the local Bundaberg and surrounding community.”

For Nexus, Bundaberg Private Day Hospital represents the 17th hospital in a growing portfolio of day and short stay surgical hospitals, and the first in Queensland. Nexus CEO, Andrew Petering, commented “We are excited by the opportunity to support Kate and her tremendous team in continuing to bring the highest quality of hospital care to Bundaberg and the surrounding community.”

The transaction underpinning the partnership was settled on 1 July 2022.
