Pacific Private Hospital’s Transformation
Nexus Hospitals is delighted to announce the multi-million dollar expansion of Pacific Private Hospital on the Gold Coast is now complete!
Responding to Gold Coast’s rapid population growth and a healthcare system under pressure, Pacific Private and Nexus Hospitals partnered to expand the boutique day surgery into a short-stay hospital. This transformation includes cutting-edge operating facilities that set a new benchmark in medical excellence.
Pacific Private’s upgrade is delivering much needed theatre capacity for surgeons in high demand, particularly in specialties such as ophthalmology, plastic surgery, gastroenterology, oral and maxillofacial surgery, orthopaedics, and Mohs surgery.
Committed to fostering innovation and superior patient care, Nexus and Pacific Private estimate to have created over 50 jobs for the Gold Coast community through the hospital expansion. Additionally, the state-of-the-art facilities are expected to attract clinical talent to the area from interstate and overseas helping to boost the local economy.
The Wilheim designed state-of-the-art 4K operating Rooms (OR’s) are equipped with a range of technologies including the first OR in Queensland to be future proofed for a patient lift, designed to raise the standard of healthcare delivery on the Gold Coast by reducing the length of patient stay.
Aligning with Nexus Hospital’s commitment to delivering a world-class standard in safety protocols for clinicians and patients, the new ORs are complete with Wilhelm’s modular AirFRAME clean room HVAC system. This advanced technology provides HEPA filtered air that is 1000 times cleaner than conventional ORs, substantially reducing the risk of surgical site infections.
The eight new inpatient beds accommodate patients requiring an overnight stay, providing much needed capacity to cater for higher acuity specialties and patients.
Pacific Private General Manager and Director of Nursing, Jane McLennan explains; “the upgrade is a direct response to an increased demand for a boutique and more personalised medical service on the Gold Coast.”
“The eight well-appointed overnight stay rooms are very appealing to our clientele of private or self-funded patients. It’s a boutique service, catering for a niche area of medical care and something both our patients and doctors were looking for.”
“Many of the doctors operating at Pacific Private also have consulting rooms within the hospital and the overnight stay adds a new level of convenience for patients and doctors alike, whilst in the post-operative care stage.”
Dr Luke Stradwick, Specialist Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon says; “The expansion of Pacific Private includes two new operating theatres with state-of-the-art AV systems. This gives the senior Plastic Surgeons who are recognised leaders in the aesthetic surgery field, much greater scope for teaching younger Plastic Surgeons.”
“Additionally, the availability of inpatient beds increases the scope and complexity of work able to be performed at Pacific Private Hospital.”
Since its inception in 2000, Pacific Private has consistently evolved, now poised to accommodate up to 12,500 patients annually across a more complex range of specialties.
This milestone positions Pacific Private as a leader in premium healthcare, heralding a new era of excellence in medical services on the Gold Coast.
