At Nexus, responsible healthcare is about delivering high quality care while creating positive outcomes for our patients, people, communities and environment. Our commitment to environmental stewardship, social responsibility and strong governance otherwise known as Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) helps us deliver our purpose of improving quality of life through world class care. We believe the best possible care for our patients starts with creating the best possible environment for our people, our communities and the future of healthcare. By caring for people, operating responsibly and making informed decisions, we aim to deliver positive outcomes that create lasting value for future generations.
What Responsible Healthcare Means at Nexus Hospitals
Nexus’ commitment to responsible healthcare guides how we care for patients, support our people, partner with doctors and suppliers, and contribute to the communities we serve. By integrating environmental responsibility, social impact and strong governance into everything we do, we deliver safe, sustainable, high-quality healthcare because we believe exceptional patient outcomes are achieved when our people have the support and environment to thrive.
Environmental Responsibility & Procurement
We are committed to reducing waste, improving resource efficiency and strengthening our environmental performance while maintaining the highest standards of patient care. We recognise that responsible use of resources supports positive environmental outcomes and a more sustainable future for generations to come. As we grow, we remain focused on balancing healthcare excellence with responsible environmental management.
Responsible Procurement
Responsible procurement allows Nexus to embed our values throughout the healthcare supply chain. We partner with suppliers who share our commitment to patient safety, ethical conduct, workforce wellbeing, sustainability and continuous improvement. Through trusted and collaborative partnerships, we strengthen healthcare outcomes, support responsible business practices and help deliver world class care while reducing ESG-related risks.
Supporting our People
Our people are at the heart of everything we achieve. We are committed to creating workplaces where our teams feel safe, supported and valued, with opportunities to learn, grow and thrive through meaningful development opportunities and strong leadership. We believe great patient outcomes are made possible by engaged, capable and connected teams, and we strive to create environments where employees and VMOs can perform at their best and know their contribution matters.
Governance and Decision Making
ESG considerations are embedded into our governance, risk management and strategic planning processes. We assess ESG risks and opportunities alongside operational, financial and clinical priorities, ensuring our approach remains aligned with the Nexus strategy and long-term objectives. Through strong Board and executive oversight and shared accountability across our organisation, we ensure responsible healthcare remains a collective commitment.
Measuring Success
We measure success through the positive outcomes we create for patients, people, communities and our organisation. We monitor progress across environmental performance, workforce wellbeing, patient outcomes, safety, responsible procurement, governance and risk management. These measures help us identify opportunities for improvement and strengthen our contribution over time.
Nexus participates in an annual GRESB survey which measures our ESG management and performance against our peers in Australia and overseas. In the survey to 30 June 2025, Nexus scored 94% on this survey, an important objective measure of the resilience of our ESG framework.
We are also members of “Global Green and Healthy Hospitals”, an organisation which shares best practice in sustainability and provides an important network to promote best practice.
Our ESG Principles

Guided by our purpose to improve quality of life through world class care, we are committed to making a lasting positive impact beyond our hospital walls.
