Working together for a sustainable private healthcare model

About Nexus Hospitals

Nexus Hospitals was founded in 2013 with a vision to transform private healthcare by establishing a network of specialist day and short-stay hospitals.

Over the years, Nexus has expanded significantly, partnering with doctors to provide patient-centered care within a more sustainable and efficient healthcare system. Today, Nexus operates 22 hospitals nationwide, delivering high-quality surgical care, focused on a core group of specialties, including ophthalmology, orthopaedics, gastroenterology, plastic surgery, dermatology and Mohs micrographic surgery, oral and maxillofacial surgery, and general surgery.

In 2019, Nexus Hospitals secured long-term investment through Australian based QIC Infrastructure’s majority acquisition, supporting growth and innovation across its network. More recently in 2023, the acquisition of Montserrat Day Hospitals strengthened Nexus’ position as one of Australia’s largest short-stay hospital platforms, further enhancing its ability to deliver efficient, affordable elective surgery while maintaining exceptional clinical outcomes. Through collaboration with medical specialists, clinical caregivers, and consumers, Nexus fosters a culture of continuous improvement, guided by the five pillars of clinical governance to ensure excellence in healthcare delivery.

Nexus Hospitals upholds the highest standards of clinical governance and patient safety, with each facility overseen by a Medical Advisory Committee (MAC) responsible for doctor credentialing, clinical reviews, and patient outcomes in alignment with national accreditation standards. Strategic direction is provided by the National Clinical Governance Committee, chaired by the group’s Medical Director, which reports directly to the Nexus Group Board, reinforcing accountability and leadership in delivering safe, high-quality healthcare.

Nexus Hospitals’ core values focus on delivering patient-centered care, respect and collaboration, commitment to excellence, and innovation. These principles guide the organisation in ensuring exceptional healthcare outcomes while fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Nexus prioritises patient safety and experience, engages openly with medical professionals and caregivers, and constantly adapts to enhance service quality.
