Grant Snibson was the founding Medical Director of Nexus Hospitals, joining the Board in December 2013. He is an ophthalmic surgeon with a special interest in refractive, corneal and cataract surgery.

Grant has a long history of thought leadership in his field, helping to establish one of the first refractive surgery treatment and research facilities in the country, and has published and lectured internationally on the evolving science of laser vision correction and the treatment of corneal disease. He continues to be involved in clinical research and holds honorary appointments at the Centre for Eye Research Australia and the University of Melbourne. He has had a long public hospital commitment and was a Principal Specialist in the Corneal Unit at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital for many years where he has also served as the Unit Head.

Grant is a founder and Principal Associate at Eye Surgery Associates, a large specialist group practice in Victoria. He has served on boards focused on the development and management of large vertically integrated medical centres, as well as a number of other health-related organisations. He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Clinical governance has been an important focus of Grant’s career. He has held the position of Medical Director and chaired the Medical Advisory Committee of two private hospitals. He currently serves on the Nexus national Clinical Governance Committee.

Grant had a major role in the establishment and successful development of Manningham Private Hospital, which was subsequently sold to Nexus in 2013 as the foundation hospital of the Nexus group.  In each of these roles, Grant has been integral to embedding the principles upon which Nexus Hospitals is based – partnering with doctors to invest in the facilities, technology and well-trained hospital teams to create a hospital group with high quality patient care and outcomes at its centre.
